Nguyên tắc hoạt động của máy ảnh này là chuyển ảnh từ thiết bị iOS/Android sang máy in bằng Wifi, sau đó máy sẽ dùng Laser để đốt cháy tấm phim do chính Fujifilm sản xuất (bán rời) và tạo thành bức ảnh hoàn chỉnh.

1. Thiết kế mới
SP-2 đã được thiết kế lại với ngoại hình vuông vức hơn, hiện đại hơn với các đường nét thẳng, vắt chéo,.. Fujifilm đã bổ sung thêm 2 màu sắc mới rất đẹp là màu Gold và màu Silver, giúp chiếc Sp-2 không còn cảm giác "toàn nhựa" như trước đây.
Trên đỉnh máy có đèn báo pin và báo quá trình in ảnh trực quan và đồng thời bổ sung thêm nút "Reprint" ở cạnh bên của máy, giúp bạn in lại tấm ảnh vừa in trước đó. Trong SP-1, chức năng này nằm trong ứng dụng di động

2. Sự cả thiện tốc độ
Với việc cải thiện tốc độ Wifi và áp dụng công nghệ in Laser mới, SP-2 sẽ chỉ cần 10 giây từ lúc bắt đầu nhấn in trên máy đến lúc ra ảnh thành phẩm. Trước đây, quá trình này tốn 16 giây.

3. Chất lượng bản in cao hơn
Bản in của SP-2 có độ phân giải 800x600 tại 320dpi. Điều này giúp ảnh in bằng SP-2 có độ nét và độ chi tiết cao hơn rất nhiều so với chiếc Sp-1 trước đây. Đây là điểm nâng cấp quan trọng nhất của chiếc máy này

4. Pin sạc qua cổng USB
Một nâng cấp làm mình thấy hài lòng là máy chuyển sang dùng pin sạc tích hợp trong máy và có thể sạc qua cổng Micro USB

5. ứng dụng điều khiển trên máy nhiều tính năng hơn
Instax Share là ứng dụng điều khiển máy in trên iOS và Android. Trong bản cập nhật mới, Fujiflm bổ sung thêm một số tính năng mới như

• Các bộ lọc màu mới
• Khả năng ghép, cắt ảnh thành dạng collage
• Kết hợp nhiều bức ảnh thành 1 bức ảnh hoàn chỉnh (để chụp ảnh tạo hình trái tim chẳng hạn)
• Thêm các dãn dán theo thời gian thực (thời gian, địa điểm,...)
• Có công cụ chỉnh sửa ảnh đơn giản để thay đổi độ sáng, tương phản,..
• Hỗ trợ Jpeg và PNG

Có thể thế bản nâng cấp mới giúp SP-2 thân thiện với người dùng hơn và có thể dùng mọi lúc mọi nơi.
